Princeville's spectacular Makai Golf Club on Kauai's north shore has been named to Golf Digest's newly released list of “America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses.” The course also ranked in the top 10 of the publication’s list of Hawaii’s best courses. The 2013/2014 rankings are published in Golf Digest’s February issue.

“We are thrilled to have the Makai included on this prestigious list,” says Alex Nakajima, General Manager of the Makai Golf Club. “It has been very gratifying, since the course’s renovation, to see the golf world take notice and gain a new appreciation for our course. The Makai offers an extraordinary golf experience in one of the most beautiful natural settings on earth.”

The Makai Golf Club, a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design, first opened in 1971 on the oceanfront bluffs of the Princeville Resort area on the island of Kauai. The course recently underwent a comprehensive 14-month renovation, reopening in early 2010 to rave reviews for its immaculate condition and playability. In 2012, the Makai Course was named one of the top five public courses in Hawaii by GOLF magazine.

The 27-hole Makai Golf Club at Princeville features two uniquely individual courses: the magnificent 18-hole Makai Course, incorporating serene lakes and stunning ocean coastline; and the leisurely 9-hole Woods Course, winding through native woodlands against a backdrop of lush mountain views.
